Pokémon Gives the Nintendo Switch 2 an Official Red & Green Upgrade

A new Pokémon release is available on the Nintendo Switch 2, and it's perfect for fans of the classic games. Gaming accessory brand HORI has released a new line of pixel art controllers and carrying cases for the Nintendo Switch 2, with visuals inspired by Pokémon Red & Green.

The Pokémon Pixel Art Nintendo Switch 2 collection is available now, just in time for the franchise's 30th anniversary. With its red and green color scheme, it's a perfect gift for the holidays, and at just $34 per controller, it's an affordable option for anyone looking to stock up on more controllers for games like Mario Kart World.

The HORI Pokémon Red & Green Pixel Art Collection Is Here for the Holidays

The Pokémon Pixel Art Nintendo Switch 2 collection from HORI features pixel art pulled right out of the very first iteration of mainline Pokémon video games. Headlining the collection are two new Wired HORIPAD TURBO controllers, each featuring distinct characters and color schemes emblematic of their respective titles.

These controllers feature a detachable wired connection, although they do not include motion controls, haptic feedback or vibrations, Amiibo support, nor the ability to wake up a sleeping console. Each Wired HORIPAD TURBO controller is currently available for pre-order for around $34.

Next up are the Nintendo Switch 2 Pixel Art Shoulder Pouches, also available in either a Red or Green variety, which are made to store consoles, cables, accessories, and up to six physical Nintendo Switch game cards. There is also the Nintendo Switch 2 Quilted Medium Pouch, which features a soft padded exterior in exchange for slightly less storage than the Shoulder Pouch, although both are available for pre-order with the same $31 price tag.

The Pokémon Pixel Art Nintendo Switch 2 collection from HORI couldn't come at a better time for fans of the mainline Pokémon titles, as the release of Generation Ten's Pokémon Winds & Waves is just around the corner. Set to be released in 2027, Pokémon Winds & Waves will feature a brand-new region where players will race from one island to another across a sprawling tropical archipelago.

Numerous reported leaks regarding what gamers can expect from Pokémon Winds & Waves have arisen in the past few months. In addition to rumors of regional variants of classic Pokémon and an MMO-like battle structure involving more than two players, reports of a revamped Synchro Machine and Rotom Scooter have made major waves online.
