Akupara Games has launched a new publishing sublabel called Kallisti Games, focused on retro-inspired, stylized, and experimental PC games. Its first announced project is AOKAKI, a pixel-art action platformer from developer Concha Indigo scheduled to launch for PC via Steam in the second quarter of 2027. A free demo is also available.

Kallisti will operate as a service-focused indie publisher under Akupara. The label is primarily targeting smaller PC projects and plans to work with a limited number of developers throughout 2026. Each title will be assigned a three-person publishing team, while Kallisti can also draw on resources available through Akupara.

Kallisti operates under a services-only revenue-share model. Developers retain ownership of their IP and creative control, while Kallisti receives a share of revenue after a game begins earning money.

The publisher is particularly interested in retro-inspired projects covering genres such as platformers, boomer shooters, shoot ’em ups, beat ’em ups, hack-and-slash games, metroidvanias, point-and-click adventures, RPGs, RTS games, and turn-based strategy.

AOKAKI follows a disgraced ronin returning home to find the land devastated by war. He takes up his sword against the shogun’s forces and encounters former friends among his enemies. The setting replaces traditional human samurai with an insect cast, and its protagonist is a tokusatsu-inspired isopod ronin.

Combat revolves around striking, parrying, and deflecting attacks. Successful parries build toward a stronger counterattack, while ranged attacks can be sent back toward enemies.

Aokaki can pogo from enemies, torches, and spikes, dash through hazards and across gaps, and curl into a bouncing ball. Players also use these mechanics to solve environmental puzzles.

Progression includes upgrading Aokaki and rebuilding his ruined homeland as players travel through different feudal Japanese-inspired areas.
